Overview: Safia is an African Canadian restaurant with 2 locations in Ottawa, Canada. They have been in business for close to 20 years and wanted to digitalise their operations. They contacted Web-Workshop to help with Website design, menu re-design, QR code, Online ordering system and Digital Signage design.

As a result of our work Safia was able to save 30% + in charges by enabling online ordering. 

Our digital signage design helped them increase the sale of items with most margin by 12%.

Their restaurant ranks 1st in Ottawa on Google for the chosen keywords

Website and Visual Identity

Website Design- First step in the redesign was to establish a visual identity with a consistent color pattern and fonts. 
Safia is known for its beautiful yellow rice dishes and want that to be the main color of the theme. We combined it with red and navy for contrasts.

Main Font picked for all the design was Bogart which was combined with poppins for descriptions.

Safia most positive feedback is about the variety and spices in taste when they enjoy safia for the first time so we came up with the TAGLINE- UNFORGETABLE FLAVOURS 

This also became the basis for all the icons and illustrations to support the design as They were based on various spices.

SEO

SEO- Search Engine Optimisation, Safia was looking to move away from the being dependent on 3rd party apps like Ubereats and Skipthedishes which charge 25-35% on pickup orders as well.

SEO placed an important part in communicating that Safia now enables online ordering on their website.

Digital Menu and QR ordering

Digital Signage Design- We created the digital menu with motion and graphic design. Our main challenge was combining accessibility because a section of foot traffic that comes to stores are patron older than 50 who would prefer a still menu compared to fast moving motions.

Our main goals was to highlight the items with bigger margin like family platters which required using design hierarchy to organise them and using motion to draw attention to the specific items.

We created our first version and tested on ground with the customer and gathered feedback.

After collecting feedback we created the second version, revised the animation to shorter times for highlighted item screens and longer for the still menu.

As a result of our design, Safia saw an increase of 20% in on the larger margin items of the menu.

Our digital signage is still is used and being interacted with thousands every week
